Been a while, huh Mav?
Things have not been great here in Ecletic Mirthlandia, in fact there’s been a downright LACK of mirth. For example, I recently started cleaning up my office/workspace and found that my wall calendar hadn’t been flipped…since April of this year.
Yeah.
So, I’m working on a comeback of sorts, sitting down looking at notes on game designs and such, so here’s a few things now on the docket:
- Strikepoint – Lots of new ideas and such which have come together to move this game into a diceless concept, relying on maneuvering and strategy, plus a boost to fog of war.
- Throw Weight – New miniatures have been designed and the overall combat and maneuver rules have been tightened up. Squadrons of small ships have been added which act as a group, but are easier to knock out, reducing the squadron’s effectiveness. Thoughts are also percolating around moving TW to a diceless system as well. All about resource management. And missiles. So many missiles…
- Some new Anime-inspired space battle game – Watching some anime space battles made something in my brain go ‘sproink’ and so a rank-and-flank mass spaceship combat game was born. Still working on a title for this, and it is not really part of the overall background of Throw Weight and Strikepoint. Might just be something I throw on itch.io or such and offer the rules for $5.
Other than that, looking into some online accountability/co-working groups to try and help me keep going. Let me know what you think, and what you’d like to see me focus on first!
Yours in service,
— Brian
